Move with BGDM - A peer-to-peer fundraiser

The future of Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM) depends on the support of our allies, who believe, as we do, that women and nonbinary artists and professionals of color need to be nourished, uplifted, invested in. 

Last year, Black women-led organizations received just 0.05% of the $69 billion made in charitable donations. Shocking, right? In order to secure BGDM’s future and continue moving towards an inclusive documentary film industry, we need your help! 

BGDM is raising $250,000 to sustain our beloved programs. Did you know that:

• Organizing and hosting industry panels and networking events = $5,000/event
• Curating and distributing jobs and opportunities board for members = $12,000/year
• Providing scholarships to help 15-20 members access festivals and industry events = $15,000/year
• Hosting and maintaining our member directory & online community = $19,000/year
• Running a round of holistic multi-week Feedback Loop program that pairs our members with advisors = $30,000/year
• Running our peer-to-peer career incubator Mafia Mastermind = $30,000/year
• Support our two Black Directors and Sustainable Artist Fellows with cash grants = $100,000/year
